Shape
Jester Syndrome
What does "Shape" sound like?
"Shape" is Jester Syndrome's second album.
Between staccato post-punk/dark-wave drums (Eva) that even cross over into classic rock, a dark-dark-wave voice (Dimitris) jumps out and adds emotional elements, while another voice (Stella) fires flaming arrows of rawness and post-punk energy, and a third voice (Eva) renders a strange doricness when it appears.
A bass (Vasilis) with raw drive and a progressive vibe has a lot to say and doesn't get stuck in its typical role. The lead guitarist (Jerry) has a style all of its own, moving towards blues-rock with catchy melodies but also with rockabilly-surf-rock leanings. Add to that a good dose of powerful and Dorian rhythm guitar (Dimitris), and you think that's it, but no.
The last and most special ingredient is the electric cello (Stella), a mix of classical music and paranoid post-punk coexistence that you don't know where it comes from, and that makes this creation so special.
And all this was put on poetic verses (Eva) that will speak to you, gloomy, tender, sometimes direct, and sometimes they'll put you in front of yourself to think about the war, your love, your desires, your place in the world, but also to doubt it.
Well, if you want to dive deeper into the lyrical richness of the album, maybe the person looking at you on the cover (by Giota Simou) might have some answers in his gaze. credits released February 9, 2024
